Croydon retail centre slips down shopping ranking

Croydon's retail centre has slipped to 36th in a ranking of the country's top shopping destinations, despite consumer spending remaining relatively constant in the borough through the recession. (Sourced from Croydon Guardian.)
 
New shopping centres at Liverpool, Cardiff and Westfield in London have all leapfrogged Croydon in the annual Caci ranking, which forecasts retail expenditure for the borough at an estimated £770m for 2010. read more

Helping jobseekers get off the shelf

A new retail recruitment centre is helping jobseekers in Croydon back into positions suitable for their skill sets.
 
Jobskills Retail is a partnership between Croydon College and Jobcentre Plus, and is being funded by £230,000 from Croydon Economic Development Company and the council. read more
