Green light for Croydon council's new headquarters

Croydon Council and John Laing have received planning consent for the first scheme within their £450m urban regeneration vehicle. (Sourced from Property Week.)
 
The planning committee has resolved to grant consent for a 390,000 sq ft public service hub in Croydon town centre that will be used by the council as its new headquarters.

Construction is expected to start in early 2010 subject to the scheme being approved by the Greater London Authority and the completion of the section 106 agreement. Indigo Planning is advising the council and John Laing.

This is the first scheme to be approved within the urban regeneration vehicle, the UK’s first local authority asset-backed scheme that will offer local councils a share of development profits on sites they own.
