Window shopping

Published: 2009-10-13 11:55:23

Empty windows in 35 locations around Croydon are being used to promote local goods and services in a bid to brighten up the streetscape and encourage local trade.

The initiative, conceived by the Croydon Economic Development Company's district centre managers (DCMs), will encourage shoppers to stop and hopefully look around at what the local shops and businesses have to offer.

"We're calling it ‘shop dressing'," said DCM development manager Sharon Baldwin.  "We will also be able to promote our enterprise services and the business hotline"

This project is to be used as a pilot, with its success being used to judge whether to further roll out the idea in future.
