Explore green Croydon

Published: 2010-01-20 11:20:55

On January 30 and 31, Transport for London (TfL) is sponsoring Winter Wanders, a weekend of free walks organised by Walk London, and the spotlight is falling on Croydon.

The walks will take place on the London Strategic Walk Network, the 350-mile network promoted by TfL to help the city become one of the most walking-friendly cities in Europe. (Sourced from Croydon Guardian.)

Croydon is one of the areas featured in the guide that stretches from Coulsdon to Ewell.

Participants will be able to see the source of the Hogsmill River at Bourne Hall Park, Ewell, as well as the commercial lavender field at Warren Farm.

Walk leader Suzanne Swann said: “The terrain covered within these seven miles is so varied.

“Yes, there is some pavement walking but we also cross fields, climb a few stiles, cross a golf course, go through three parks and cross a woodland area.”
