Homes to Livin
Published: 2010-01-20 11:40:45 Geraghty Taylor and Guildhouse-Rosepride have launched a new, innovative approach to affordable housing.
Designed to achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes rating of Level 4 and above, the homes benefit from being based on a single repeatable modular base, which ensures the product remains cost-effective. The design can be customised at any stage during the building’s life to provide different internal layouts, incorporating flats, duplexes and high density housing accommodation. Architect Brendan Geraghty said: “We wanted to provide sustainable, flexible and accessible housing which could respond to the demand for different types of accommodation and adapt to life changes.” The pilot project in north west Croydon, being delivered by Mott MacDonald, will create six units comprising two houses and a mix of duplexes, while additional projects in Salford and elsewhere in London are due to get under way in the coming weeks.
