Housing Conference comes to Croydon

Following on from publication of the Mayor’s housing strategy for public consultation, 250 of London’s key housing stakeholders will descend on Croydon for a large consultation conference.

The event, which is taking place on the morning of 8 July at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, will see keynote addresses from Boris Johnson and shadow housing minister Grant Shapps. Attendance is by invitation only. read more

Croydon iBuilding scheme launched

Countryside Properties has launched a new development of 58 apartments for sale and 92 new affordable homes on London Road, Croydon.

The iBuilding is designed by architect BPTW Partnership, which believes the apartments will achieve an EcoHomes rating of “excellent”: low energy lighting, gas-fired condensing boilers, CFC- and HFC-free insulation and dual flush toilets all feature. read more

Croydon in line for regeneration gongs

Croydon’s work to combat the effects of the recession has been recognised by the judging panel of the “Regeneration and Renewal” magazine awards.

The borough was nominated in two prestigious categories, “regeneration partnership of the year” and “boosting a local economy”. read more

The final countdown

Okra Landscape Architects and a team led by James Corner Field Operations have been short-listed in the international competition to redesign Wellesley Road, in Croydon town centre. The winner will be announced in July.

There were 50 entries, from the UK, Europe and North America. They were judged on four main criteria: design flair, taking a sympathetic approach to the local area, addressing key issues from the brief, and how successfully the ideas were conveyed to the panel. read more
