Explore green Croydon

On January 30 and 31, Transport for London (TfL) is sponsoring Winter Wanders, a weekend of free walks organised by Walk London, and the spotlight is falling on Croydon.

The walks will take place on the London Strategic Walk Network, the 350-mile network promoted by TfL to help the city become one of the most walking-friendly cities in Europe. (Sourced from Croydon Guardian.) read more

Quest Academy plans approved

Selsdon High School looks set to be replaced by The Quest Academy after the Transforming Croydon Schools cabinet approved the proposals.

The green light came just weeks after the borough was formally given the go-ahead for government funding from the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families. read more

Guildhouse-Rosepride LLP is working towards submission of a planning application for 1 Lansdowne Road.

September 2008 saw initial plans for the 55-storey mixed-use development go on public display, and the team have continued to develop the concept. read more

Croydon parks cash windfall

Nearly 9,000 people helped Croydon Council choose the nine parks that will benefit from a £1.5 million facelift.

Fairfield study plans a cultural boost for Croydon

Keith Williams Architects will draft a rejuvenation strategy for Fairfield Halls following its appointment by Croydon Council and members of the hall's board.
 
The firm comes with an international pedigree for the design of cultural buildings and secured the contract despite competition from some of the leading architectural practices in the country.
 
The council and the board recently made the decision to find ways to bring Fairfield up to date. They are looking for changes that will enable all of its facilities to be put to more diverse uses, thus opening its doors to a larger proportion of Croydon's population. read more
